About Francesca

Graduating in Communication and Cultural Industries from the University of Barcelona, Francesca is an Ibizan screenwriter and director specializing in fiction and fashion films. Her work often features an acidic, unapologetic tone, centered around raw and angry female characters, with a strong connection to their roots and origins. Her passion for storytelling began at a very young age, when she started experimenting with video art and short stories. At fifteen, she won the Balearic Islands edition of the Premi Ficcions for her short story about prostitution, El Cierzo Aragonés.

 

Her first short film, Maternitat (2023) was screened at IbizaCineFest, L’Horror Film Fest, and the Mostra EnCURTits de Formentera. She also directed Amar a Un Facha (2024), selected at the IbizaCineFest, the Muestra de Cine Balear de Barcelona, L’Horror Film Fest, the Muestra de Cine Femenino de Can Basté, and the Cádiz Maravíllame University Film Festival.

 

Alongside her directing and writing work, she has worked on film sets across several departments, including assistant directing, script supervision, art direction, and production assistance. Her involvement with IbizaCineFest through the screening of her short films eventually led to her joining the festival team in production and programming. She also has experience in film distribution and programming through her work with Catalunya Film Festivals and as part of the programming team at Women X Film, a BIFA-qualifying festival.
